Vintage Battery Toy Repair
I remember, as a young boy, how thrilled I was when I got a new battery operated toy. Not only did I love playing with it, but I was also intrigued about how it worked. As the initial joy of playing with it passed, I often proceeded to take it apart to find out what was inside. Of course, after taking it apart and putting it back together, it usually never worked the same, if at all. Many years passed and I remembered less and less of those wonderful days. I thought that I had lost that childhood curiosity, as it lay dormant for such a long time. Not until recently was it rediscovered. And much to my surprise, I found that it had never left.
I still find great pleasure in taking apart an old toy that has been sitting silent, useless, and dusty in the attic for many years, and bringing it back to life. As ingenious as some of these toys are, unfortunately they were made to sell and not to last. Most of them will eventually stop working, especially if stored away and not played with. I am not an expert repairman. You can find professional toy repair on our Favorite Links page. But, I have learned a few things that I would like to share with you, that you may find useful.
